After three years, CITIC Securities' growth rate has finally returned to double digits.
“Brokerage King” has finally ended a three-year period of stagnant performance. On January 14, CITIC Securities released its performance report, showing revenue and net profit attributable to shareholders in 2025 were 74.83 billion yuan and 30.051 billion yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth of 28.75% and 38.46%. This is the first time since 2022 that CITIC Securities has returned to double-digit year-on-year growth. Previously, affected by market fluctuations, CITIC Securities experienced a prolonged period of bottoming out in its performance. Behind this performance recovery is a significant increase in trading activity in the A-share market and a warming IPO market. In 2025, the total turnover of the A-share market surpassed 400 trillion yuan for the first time, up over 60% year-on-year; in the same period, A-share IPO financing reached 131.771 billion yuan, a year-on-year surge of more than 90%. With a bigger pond, the bigger fish win, and leading brokerages have become the big winners of this cycle of recovery. “The company actively seized market opportunities, steadily expanded its customer base, and achieved rapid growth in brokerage, investment banking, and proprietary business revenues,” said CITIC Securities. From an industry perspective, the most eye-catching event in 2025 is undoubtedly the threat posed to CITIC Securities’ “brokerage king” status from the newly formed “aircraft carrier-level” brokerage Guotai Haitong. In this competition for the top spot, Guotai Haitong’s investment banking business has yet to shake CITIC Securities’ position. In 2025, CITIC Securities ranked first with an IPO underwriting total of 21.888 billion yuan, 3.2 billion yuan ahead of second-place Guotai Haitong. Looking ahead to 2026, CITIC Securities’ lead may be further strengthened. Currently, CITIC Securities has reserve projects with planned fundraising totaling 71.5 billion yuan, and boasts high-profile hundred-billion-yuan star deals like China Resources New Energy. Since the beginning of the year, the market has remained highly active. On January 14, total A-share market turnover reached 3.99 trillion yuan, just a step away from the 4 trillion mark, and this is also the third consecutive day the A-share trading record has been broken. If this feast continues, the outstanding results CITIC Securities just posted for 2025 may be just the prologue of a “super cycle.” Risk Warning and Disclaimer The market involves risks; investment should be cautious.
