AI glasses continue to evolve: not just seeing, but also getting things done

In the past two years, large models have rapidly entered the field of smart glasses, with functions like translation and photography appearing in abundance. But as these capabilities gradually become standard, the new challenge facing AI glasses is: after seeing, can it further help users solve their problems?
Recently, at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), many manufacturers showcased new products and technologies for AI glasses. Compared to simply adding a new AI feature, this year companies are focusing more on how glasses can continuously understand the user and environment, call upon external tools and services, and enter concrete processes such as communication, payment, travel, and enterprise operations.
This means that AI glasses are evolving from a portable information portal to a smart terminal that can participate in real-world tasks.
LLVision showcased an AR+AI application system that extends from personal communication to enterprise productivity.
At this year's WAIC, LLVision focused on presenting the Hey2 AR translation glasses, the "Listener" subtitle glasses, the AR+AI conference translation system, as well as GLXSS SE, Leion Pro, and the ARISE enterprise service platform.
In personal communication scenarios, Hey2 primarily targets cross-language communication. The translated content can be directly displayed within the glasses' field of vision, so both parties don't have to frequently look down at their phones, thus maintaining as much natural eye contact as possible. Wall Street Journal's on-site experience noted that the languages Hey2 can translate also include dialects from around the world, such as Cantonese.
As application scenarios extend from individuals to organizations, the system capabilities behind the glasses become increasingly important.
In large international conferences and forums, whether a single device can handle translation is only the basic requirement. Organizers also need to manage hundreds or even thousands of terminals uniformly, configure specialized word banks, and ensure real-time coordination between different languages.
LLVision’s AR+AI conference translation system showcased this time supports real-time multilingual translation, unified device management, and professional term configuration, and has already been used in major events such as the Zhongguancun Forum and Xiangshan Tourism Summit.
If LLVision is first solving how glasses can enter real-world work, Rokid then further asks: What kind of operating system is needed when glasses are to help users access services like payment, ride-hailing, and pharmacy purchases?
During WAIC, Rokid presented native operating systems specifically designed for smart glasses, such as YodaOS.
According to Rokid’s design, YodaOS is built around the form factor of glasses, redesigning interaction, sensing, intelligence capabilities, and scenario services.
This corresponds to a long-standing issue in the AI glasses industry. At present, many AI glasses have integrated large models, but their interactive methods are still similar to mobile voice assistants: the user asks a question, and the system returns a voice or text result. Different functions are independent of each other, and it’s hard for glasses to continuously understand the user’s environment and ongoing tasks.
To solve this problem, the intelligent agent ecosystem Rokid is building is essential. After six months online, Rokid’s agent store now has more than 440 agents available, with over 5,000 agents in research and iteration, and more than 33,000 registered developers on the platform.
In actual scenarios, Rokid demonstrated capabilities such as payment, ride-hailing, purchasing medication, parking fee payment, tourist guide services, and industrial remote collaboration. For example, in consumer scenes, users can complete payments or access lifestyle services directly through the glasses.
Qianwen has further upgraded AI glasses to "agent glasses". These glasses can call third-party Skills and Agents on demand. The already released Qianwen AI Glasses S1 and G1 also plan to add Agent capabilities via OTA.
Overall, AI glasses may not replace smartphones, but they have a natural advantage: they are closer to a person’s vision, voice, and actions. When devices can understand what the user is experiencing and provide help without interrupting behavior, they may create usage methods distinct from smartphones.
