Alipay merges its three major business segments, with Wu Minzhi appointed as president of the new business group.
On September 21, Ant Group CEO Han Xinyi released an all-staff letter announcing organizational adjustments and personnel appointments for Alipay, in order to further advance the business layout of smart agents.
According to the restructuring, the Alipay Business Group, Digital Payment Business Group, and Sesame Credit Business Unit will be merged to form a new Alipay Business Group. Wu Minzhi will serve as the president of the new Alipay Business Group and will continue to serve as the CPO of Ant Group.
This adjustment means that Alipay's platform operations, digital payments, and credit services will be integrated into the same business group. Technology, product, and ecosystem resources, previously distributed across different business segments, will be further integrated to strengthen user services and merchant management capabilities.
In a letter to all employees, Han Xinyi stated that as AI technology rapidly enters various business scenarios, intelligent entity commerce is moving towards large-scale development. Alipay's previously proposed "dual flywheel" strategy, which involves simultaneously advancing AI capability development around user services and merchant operations, is precisely in preparation for intelligent entity commerce.
Over the past three years, Alipay has been developing its presence in areas such as AI payment, Agent trust mechanism, AI wallet, personal life assistant "Abao", "Tap to Pay", and multi-terminal ecosystem.
In terms of business progress, "Abao" has driven more than 10,000 services to complete AI upgrades in the three months since its launch, and has been connected to terminals such as mobile phones, car systems, watches and glasses; AI payment has built a full-stack product system and has completed 300 million AI payments; "Tap to Pay" continues to expand offline payment scenarios and is used to connect merchants' digital operation services.
According to the direction of this adjustment, the new Alipay Business Group will further concentrate its technology, product and ecosystem capabilities: promoting AI wallets and life assistants for users, and providing services and business tools for merchants through the Alipay AI Open Platform;
With payment, credit, and platform access integrated, the product development and commercialization of Alipay Smart Agent Commerce will be coordinated by the same business group.
Public information shows that Wu Minzhi joined Ant Group in August 2021. Prior to that, she worked at Alibaba Group for more than 20 years, serving successively as President of Alibaba International Trade Business Group, President of B2B Business Group, and Chief Customer Officer, possessing experience in platform operation and business services.
