Aliyun launches low-cost AI programming package, integrating four top open-source models

Alibaba is extending its AI offensive into the software development sector, with its cloud computing division launching low-cost programming tool subscription packages that integrate several top domestic open-source large models, offering highly competitive prices to capture the developer market.
On February 25, Alibaba Cloud Bailian launched the Coding Plan, which includes API services for four major open-source models: Qwen3.5, GLM-5, MiniMax M2.5, and Kimi K2.5. Currently, among global cloud providers, only Alibaba Cloud offers this service.
Pricing: The Lite version is priced at 7.9 yuan for the first month, and 40 yuan per month thereafter; the Professional version costs 39.9 yuan for the first month, and 200 yuan per month thereafter. Alibaba Cloud states the main target audience for this package is the developer community. Users can freely switch among mainstream AI programming tools such as Qwen Code, Claude Code, and Cline.
AI programming tools have recently drawn intense industry attention. The launch of new features for Anthropic’s Claude model has triggered investor sell-offs across multiple sectors.
IBM saw a record one-day stock drop, the biggest since 2000, after Anthropic stated that Claude Code could replace the Cobol language running on its mainframes.

Qwen3.5 Continues Expanding, Dual Optimization of Performance and Deployment Threshold
Alibaba has been very active at the model level this month.
After open-sourcing Qwen3.5-397B-A17B on Lunar New Year's Eve, Alibaba again open-sourced three medium-scale models on February 25: Qwen3.5-35B-A3B, Qwen3.5-122B-A10B, and Qwen3.5-27B.
According to Wallstreetcn, all three models set new performance benchmarks for their respective sizes and can be directly deployed on consumer-grade graphics cards, making them more developer-friendly.
Additionally, the hosted model Qwen3.5-Flash, based on Qwen3.5-35B-A3B, is now available on Alibaba Cloud Bailian at a price as low as 0.2 yuan per million tokens input.
Qwen3.5, as a native multi-modal model, supports text, image, and video input, can parse video content up to two hours long, and is specially optimized for AI Agent task scenarios.
Comprehensive Acceleration of AI Strategy, AGI Becomes Core Goal
Alibaba's layout in the programming tool track is a microcosm of its overall AI strategy being rapidly implemented.
One year ago, Alibaba Group CEO Wu Yongming clearly stated the company's primary goal had shifted to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)—strong AI systems capable of simulating or even matching human cognitive abilities. This strategic shift is quite different from Alibaba’s traditional e-commerce business.
The Qwen series models have earned widespread industry recognition for their high performance and open-source strategy.
Analysts believe the open-source approach allows users to access model capabilities at low cost, and this move to include multiple startup models in a single subscription package further strengthens Alibaba Cloud’s position as a foundational AI infrastructure platform in China.
