On December 1, Apple announced that its head of Artificial Intelligence (AI) department, John Giannandrea, will step down from his position and be succeeded by Amar Subramanya, an AI researcher who recently worked at Microsoft.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he previously worked at Google's DeepMind.
Apple stated that Subramanya will serve as Apple's Vice President of AI and will report to software head Craig Federighi.
Giannandrea previously served as Senior Vice President and reported directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Apple said that Giannandrea will continue to serve as an advisor until next spring.
