Bessant: The Strait of Hormuz may be "bypassed" within two years, becoming "worthless waters".

On September 1, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessant stated that the Strait of Hormuz is expected to be "bypassed" within the next two years, with oil transportation gradually shifting to overland pipelines, at which point the Strait of Hormuz may become "worthless waters".

Bessant also stated that approximately 85% to 90% of Iran's factories have the capacity for reconstruction, and claimed that Iran may possess the world's third-largest energy resources. Regarding sanctions and blockades against Iran, Bessant believes these measures will be effective. He also revealed that the United States may announce sanctions against banks this week or next week.

He emphasized that the United States will adopt a "zero-tolerance" stance towards Iran and will continue to exert pressure through economic means; subsequent sanctions may extend to aircraft leasing companies. However, he also stated that Iran still has the opportunity to reintegrate into the global system.
