As global logistics competition continues to intensify, Cainiao is constantly upgrading in terms of timeliness.

On May 19th, Cainiao announced the simultaneous launch of the "On-Time Guarantee or Compensation" service in the United States and Germany, promising that cross-border packages will be delivered within 10 and 8 calendar days respectively, or compensation will be automatically provided if overdue.

This is the first time, after the UK’s 5-day "On-Time Guarantee or Compensation" launch, that Cainiao has expanded this product to the US and continental European markets.

In addition, according to exclusive information from Wallstreetcn, Cainiao also plans to launch the cross-border package "On-Time Guarantee or Compensation" service in the Netherlands, Australia, and other countries.

Wallstreetcn learned from an international express business insider that the main competitors in cross-border e-commerce are local goods suppliers. Due to the long time required for cross-border transport, consumers are often sensitive to speed, and improving the timeliness of cross-border logistics can bring a higher consumer conversion rate.

At the same time, cross-border e-commerce logistics generally uses "estimated delivery times" as a service commitment, so sellers and consumers cannot obtain definite guarantees. Cainiao’s "On-Time Guarantee or Compensation" upgrades logistics timeliness from a reference value to a rigid commitment—if the standard is not met, compensation is provided.

It is reported that Cainiao’s US cross-border logistics route relies on daily direct flights, with a full-process commitment to delivery within 10 calendar days and the fastest possible in 4 days, covering the entire US. The Germany route commits to delivery within 8 calendar days, with the fastest possible in 5 days, focusing on small packages weighing 0-2 kilograms.

The person in charge of Cainiao’s cross-border logistics On-Time Guarantee product said that this move is aimed at using logistical certainty to help merchants hedge against uncertainties in cross-border e-commerce trade.

Timeliness has always been the key for major logistics companies to improve their competitiveness.

In 2020, Cainiao began to launch the “Global 10-Day Delivery” service. At the 2023 Global Smart Logistics Summit, Alibaba Group emphasized that one of Cainiao’s important directions for future development is to “focus on the global market and build a global logistics network.” In that year, the milestone “Global 5-Day Delivery” product was implemented.

Not long ago, at the 2026 Cainiao Open Day, Cainiao Group CEO Wan Lin revealed that deliveries from China to Europe now generally reach in 5 days via Cainiao, with some countries even achieving 3-day delivery.

With the vision of “Global 72-Hour Guaranteed Delivery”, it was only this year that Cainiao truly moved towards “Global 72-Hour Guaranteed Delivery”, offering a Hong Kong to London 3-day service in April. In addition, cross-border services within many European countries and within the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions have already achieved 72-hour delivery.
