Chery Fengyun is about to be "unapologetic" again.

When price wars became the main theme in the 200,000-yuan SUV market, Chery Fengyun T11 chose to face the challenge head-on.

On the evening of October 30, Chery, which has been making great strides in new energy, released a new car—the Fengyun T11. The new car is positioned as a large six-seat SUV for families, and comes in four versions, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 189,900 to 249,900 yuan. A limited-time trade-in subsidy offers an extra 10,000 yuan discount.

From Fengyun's recent upgrade from a series to an independent brand, it is not hard to see Chery’s plan: Fengyun is set to be Chery’s vanguard in conquering the new energy market.

Judging from its report card, Fengyun has indeed delivered an impressive performance. After the launch of the Fengyun A9L, its delivery volume exceeded 10,000 units for two consecutive months, helping Chery achieve sales of 91,000 new energy vehicles in September, up 55.4% year-on-year.

But competition is an infinite game, and the challenges for the new car continue. The 200,000-yuan large SUV market that Fengyun T11 has entered is already surrounded by strong rivals.

The Geely Galaxy M9 has built a "benchmark for driving control" with CDC+ air suspension and a 3DHT hybrid system, while the Li Auto L6, with its precise positioning as a "family five-seat SUV," has firmly captured three-member-family users, establishing cognitive barriers in their respective segments.

Although competitors each dominate their own territories, Fengyun T11 is not weak either, surpassing 28,000 pre-sale orders after just 18 days of pre-sale.

In terms of product strength, Fengyun T11 boasts flagship dimensions of 5205*1998*1800mm and an ultra-long wheelbase of 3120mm. Interestingly, Li Xueyong, Executive Vice President of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., demonstrated the spaciousness of all three rows in the vehicle at the launch event.

In terms of range, the new car is equipped with a 1.5TGDI high-efficiency dedicated engine for extended range. It offers a pure electric range of 220 km for daily commuting and a total range of 1,400 km for long-distance travel.

In today’s white-hot competition in intelligence, Fengyun T11 is equipped across the line with the Falcon advanced driver assistance system, which features 27 sensing hardware components and a 200 TOPS computing power chip, enabling all-scenario intelligent driving, including highway NOA, urban NOA, and cross-floor memory parking.

Kang Hang, an analyst at Northeast Securities, believes that the Chery Fengyun brand is still relatively young and is in the period of developing and perfecting its product matrix and sales channels. At present, its new energy sales are still significantly behind those of leading companies like BYD and Geely. However, as its product matrix continues to expand, the Fengyun series is expected to show sustained sales growth. Chery’s transformation to new energy vehicles in the mainstream household market still has a long way to go.

For Chery, the success or failure of the Fengyun T11 goes beyond the significance of a single model. On the one hand, as Chery is now a listed company in Hong Kong, it uses this car to prove to investors the efficient closed loop of its "technology-product-sales" chain, showing that its technology can be turned into popular bestsellers and that its commercial monetization capability is fully validated.

On the other hand, this car is also becoming the "technical anchor" of the Chery Fengyun brand, helping the brand to constantly build and improve its new energy intelligent driving system. The formation of this system will further strengthen the brand's competitiveness in intelligence within the new energy sector and lay a solid technical foundation for the expansion of its future product matrix.

For now, the Fengyun T11 has made a good start with 28,000 pre-sale orders. But the real test is whether it can turn this short-term buzz into long-term reputation and further boost Chery’s new energy vehicle sales to new heights.

However, having completed its listing, Chery Automobile is already on a new journey. As Yin Tongyue said at the recent Chery Global Innovation Conference: "After the 'new energy impolite' and 'intelligentization impolite' slogans, this year, we will shout loudly: Chery’s global innovation system will also be 'impolite'!"
