China Literature bets on "AI + Comic Dramas," opening up 100,000 IPs to seize the new track

China Literature is accelerating the activation of its IP reserves with "AI + Manhua Drama" as the engine.
At the 2025 China Literature Creation Conference, Hou Xiaonan, CEO and President of China Literature, announced on site the upgrade of the "Creative Partner Plan" and officially entered the new track of manhua drama.
As a product of the short drama-ification of animation, the manhua drama market is currently experiencing explosive growth.
According to data from Ocean Engine, in the first half of this year, the monthly compound growth rate of manhua drama supply reached as high as 83%, with more than 3,000 titles launched in six months and revenue surging twelvefold.
AI technology has played a key role behind the scenes: not only has it greatly shortened animation production cycles, but it has also solved the core challenge of transforming genres such as fantasy and sci-fi from textual concepts to visual presentation, thereby paving the way for standardized and large-scale production of manhua dramas.
Hou Xiaonan stated: "Short dramas and manhua dramas are becoming important engines for the visualization of IP, not only greatly improving the efficiency of transforming text into visuals and bringing development opportunities for a large amount of IP, but also opening up brand-new transformation paths for writers."
Unlike short dramas that focus on everyday plots, the core of manhua drama lies in world-building. Behind its lightweight format, it relies precisely on greater plot tension and narrative density as support.
China Literature happens to possess a treasure trove of IP that is yet to be developed.
Over the past decade, China Literature has gradually built the world's largest online literature ecosystem, amassing over 10 million online literary works and incubating more than 4,000 manhua, film, and game projects.
Its industry synergy model, already proven in the field of short dramas, is also likely to be replicated in the rapidly growing manhua drama track.
As the core measure of the "Creative Partner Plan," China Literature will open up 100,000 premium IPs, including top works such as "National Forensic," and set up a special creation fund worth 100 million yuan to support cross-field collaboration and content development by writers and top teams.
On the technology side, China Literature has officially launched a one-stop AIGC creation platform, "Manhua Drama Assistant," providing comprehensive support for the adaptation of online literature IP from content understanding and creation advice to visual generation. The platform is now open for appointments to partner studios and relevant universities.
In terms of industry chain collaboration, China Literature is striving to build a full-chain support system from production and distribution to IP synergy, creating an open, efficient, and win-win co-creation ecosystem for manhua dramas.
Currently, 30 manhua drama works from China Literature have exceeded 10 million views, with works such as "The Wise Son-in-Law of the Ming Dynasty" and "Max Out the Invincible Simulation System" surpassing 100 million views, frequently topping platform charts.
"Succubus Betrays the Lord, I Raise an Eight-winged Seraphim Instead," launched in cooperation with top studio "Soy Sauce Animation," has surpassed 150 million views.
At the conference, China Literature announced that "Soy Sauce Animation" has become the first team in the industry to receive its investment and support. Over the next three years, both parties plan to jointly launch no fewer than 400 manhua dramas annually, with more than half of the works adapted from China Literature IP.
While actively expanding content innovation, China Literature continues to increase investment in technology tools and platform capabilities, systematically advancing full-chain IP development.
Among the new AI applications, "Miaobi Tongjian" leverages its deep understanding of tens of millions of online novels to assist authors with detail tracing and plot summarization; "Copyright Assistant" precisely connects China Literature's library of a million-level online novels with the needs of downstream IP adaptation parties, improving IP development efficiency.
In terms of derivative ecosystem expansion, China Literature has also launched the "Global Trendy Toys Co-creation Plan," partnering with the world's top 100 artists to promote the incubation of original trendy toy IPs and the visualization of China Literature IPs, while offering partners the full-chain industrialization capacity from artist signing and design supply chains to global marketing and IP linkage.
In the first half of 2025, the total GMV of China Literature's derivatives reached 480 million yuan, close to the level of the entire previous year.
