From January to February, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 8,607.9 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8% year-on-year. Among them, retail sales of consumer goods excluding automobiles totaled 7,982.7 billion yuan, up 3.7%.

By location of operating units, from January to February, retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas amounted to 7,444.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%; in rural areas, retail sales reached 1,163.0 billion yuan, up 3.2%.

By consumption type, from January to February, retail sales of goods totaled 7,581.5 billion yuan, an increase of 2.5% year-on-year; catering revenue was 1,026.4 billion yuan, up 4.8%.

By retail format, from January to February, among retail units above the designated size, sales of convenience stores, supermarkets, department stores, and specialty stores increased by 6.4%, 4.9%, 1.0%, and 0.2%, respectively, compared to last year; sales of branded specialty stores decreased by 2.3%.

From January to February, the national online retail sales of goods and services totaled 3,254.6 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2% year-on-year. Among them, online retail sales of goods were 2,081.2 billion yuan, up 10.3%, accounting for 24.2% of total retail sales of consumer goods; within online retail sales of goods, sales of food, apparel, and general merchandise increased by 20.7%, 18.0%, and 4.7%, respectively. Online service retail sales reached 1,173.4 billion yuan, up 7.3%.
