DeepSeek launches "exponential" expansion: targeting AI search and data barriers, the decisive battle for large model commercialization begins

DeepSeek stated in a WeChat post: With technological advancement, we are working to expand the scale of all departments by at least double.

Open positions include: backend development engineer, pre-training data engineer, AI search algorithm/architecture engineer, Agent Harness team, Agent Infra R&D engineer, front-end/client development engineer, interdisciplinary AI talent, and more.

DeepSeek wrote in its recruitment announcement:

"Humanity is on the eve of AGI. Join DeepSeek, witness the development of AGI firsthand, sit in the front row of the era, and witness the birth of a new epoch."

According to previous media reports, DeepSeek has just completed its first round of external financing, totaling approximately 51 billion yuan, with a valuation close to 400 billion yuan. It is one of the largest startup financings in China. Founder Liang Wenfeng personally invested 20 billion yuan, becoming the largest investor in this round; Tencent, CATL, JD.com, NetEase, and IDG Capital also participated.

This large-scale expansion means DeepSeek is rapidly converting financing capital into personnel and capability growth. After the announcement, the market expects the rise of low-cost AI models to weaken the continuous demand for AI chip investments, and Nvidia's stock price once fell by 3.5% during intraday trading.

A report from research agency Exponential View shows that Chinese AI models are gaining an increasingly larger share in the global market, and the number of open-weight and Chinese AI model users, including DeepSeek and MiniMax, continues to grow.

Data from developer platform OpenRouter further confirms this trend: The proportion of token requests from models under Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic on the platform has dropped from 72% in June 2025 to 33% in June 2026.
