Dreame’s big breakout—founder generously gives away gold
Author | Huang Yu Editor | Wang Xiaojuan As the end of 2025 approaches, year-end company benefits are a nerve-wracking topic for every “working person.” After ByteDance and JD.com announced significant increases in bonus investments, Dreame, one of the hottest tech companies of the year, has also become “someone else’s company” thanks to the boss’s generosity. Recently, Yu Hao, founder and CEO of Dreame Technology, announced in the company’s internal group that each employee would be given 1 gram of gold as an extra year-end bonus. A screenshot shows the company’s group has 18,539 members; at the current domestic gold price of about 1,000 yuan/gram, Dreame’s extra year-end bonus will cost nearly 20 million yuan. Against the backdrop of a sharp rise in gold prices this year, Dreame’s “red gold bonus” has quickly become a hot topic in the workplace. According to information obtained by Wallstreet.cn, this year-end bonus addition is an extra 1 gram of gold for every employee, over and above the regular year-end bonus. The confidence behind this “gold distribution” comes from Dreame’s explosive growth: over 100% CAGR for six consecutive years, and revenue for the first half of 2025 has already exceeded the total revenue for all of 2024. Year-end bonuses are a “strategic lever” of company management, with core significance in anchoring employee retention, activating performance value, and strengthening organizational identity. It is not only material motivation but also the “psychological contract” connecting individuals and enterprises. With the revolutionary opportunities brought by AI, many companies are at the start of a new growth phase, and the importance of talent incentives goes without saying. Behind this glittering generosity, it also reflects Dreame is at a critical juncture, expanding from a single cleaning category to a fully-fledged boundaryless ecological enterprise, trying to stock up on resources and boost morale for imminent multi-front operations with proactive talent incentive policies. This is not the first time Dreame has made a significant move in talent motivation. Previously, Yu Hao announced on his WeChat Moments that this year’s year-end bonus would also reward 10 employees with a trip to Antarctica. In August this year, amid aggressive expansion, Yu Hao also issued an all-employee letter announcing more than 2 million yuan in red envelopes for all staff. At the time, he stated that Dreame had already dispensed tens of millions of yuan in extra incentives since the beginning of the year, a new incentive measure covering several outstanding teams and individuals in R&D, sales, marketing, etc., outside the existing bonus system. It’s an immediate extra reward mechanism—teams or individuals making breakthroughs in market share, net profit, revenue, technology, products, etc., can be rewarded, with amounts ranging from tens of thousands to several million yuan. Meanwhile, Yu Hao pointed out that the company hopes to build a competitive “heavy reward” incentive system, providing stronger support for innovation and breakthrough beyond basic salary and regular bonuses. He wants to create a platform that truly values talent, encourages hard work, and supports dreams—so every hardworking employee can get the rewards they deserve. It’s worth mentioning that Yu Hao, a Tsinghua University graduate, attaches great importance to recruiting Tsinghua talent. Public information shows Dreame Technology launched the “Tsinghua Excellence Talent Program” during the 2025 autumn campus recruitment, aiming to recruit 1,000 Tsinghua graduates in one go. The reason for the huge talent demand is that Dreame is no longer content with cultivating only the smart cleaning field, but is aiming to become a boundaryless ecological enterprise. In Yu Hao’s view, great enterprises must have continuous entrepreneurship capability. Amazon, Alibaba, and ByteDance are all continuously entrepreneurial. The smart cleaning market, after all, has limited space and increasingly fierce competition. Dreame now has ambitions to tap new performance growth by laying out more tracks. As seen this year, Dreame has continuously announced its entry into new business fields, including large home appliances, drones, mobile phones, cars, sports cameras, astronomy, and more. From smart cleaning to smart mobility and then to space exploration, such “cosmic-level” business expansion is eye-catching. The gold Yu Hao gave out is not only a celebration for the core business achieving a 100% CAGR for six years but also a send-off for more new campaigns in the future. Beneath the “big explosion” surface, Dreame must prove: it can not only clean the dust off the floor but also clear potential traps on the path toward diversified expansion.
