Due to the partial government "shutdown," the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has postponed the release of the employment report.

The U.S. government shutdown has caused a delay in the release of the January employment report, leaving the market without key data.

On February 2 local time, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that due to the partial federal government "shutdown," the January employment report originally scheduled for release on the 6th will not be published on time. Emily Liddell, an official in charge at the Bureau, stated in a release:

The release of the report will be rescheduled after government funding is restored.

On January 30, the U.S. Senate passed an appropriations bill to provide funding for several federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, Education, Health and Human Services, Labor, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, but the revised plan still needs approval from the House of Representatives. Starting from midnight (Eastern Time) on January 31, multiple departments of the U.S. federal government fell into a "technical shutdown."

House Republican Speaker Mike Johnson stated on February 1 local time that Republicans are ready to "go it alone" to push for rapid approval of the funding bill for multiple departments. The "technical shutdown" of several federal departments will last at least until the 3rd.
