Goldman Sachs re-examines Kingsoft Office: AI paid conversion still needs time
```
Kingsoft Office is accelerating the push to expand AI from single-point functions to complex office tasks. However, when these new capabilities can be converted into stable revenue has become a key focus of the market.
On July 21, Goldman Sachs released a research report and shifted its investment judgment on Kingsoft Office to cautious, changing the rating from “neutral” to “sell.”
Goldman Sachs believes that the user adoption and payment rate of WPS AI may take longer to improve, and previous growth expectations for personal and enterprise subscription services were overly optimistic.
This assessment came after Kingsoft Office had intensively released AI products.
During the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Kingsoft Office launched the WPS AI Lingxi Professional Edition for personal users, as well as WPS AI Comate for enterprise clients.
Among these, the Lingxi Professional Edition is positioned as a “personal AI office assistant,” capable of understanding context and utilizing tools such as documents, code, and browsers to handle complex tasks. WPS AI Comate connects to enterprise knowledge bases to help enterprise users with document processing and business collaboration.
Compared to earlier functions such as content generation, document summarization, and format adjustment, Kingsoft Office hopes AI will further penetrate the entire office workflow. Users will no longer only call up a specific function; instead, they can assign tasks, which AI will then break down, call up different tools, and deliver results.
Goldman Sachs still acknowledges that the continuous upgrade of AI functions can drive user efficiency and product adoption rates, but believes there remains a time lag between increased product capability and growth in paid revenue.
First, the AI office market is expanding rapidly. As more AI-native office products appear, users have more choices, and some competing products have adopted more attractive pricing strategies.
Secondly, whether AI functions can bring clear returns to users still requires more scenario verification.
However, the report also notes that if the payment rate among personal users increases faster than expected, WPS 365’s penetration among enterprise customers accelerates, or WPS AI’s adoption and user spending outperforms expectations, there remains the possibility for its judgment to turn more positive.
From this report, it appears that AI competition in office software is entering a more pragmatic phase.
With large model capabilities increasingly accessible, launching AI assistants and Agents is no longer scarce. What’s more important going forward is whether these products can enter high-frequency workflows, continuously solve complex tasks, and convert usage into stable subscription revenue.
In the long run, Kingsoft Office is still attempting to transform office software from a tool-type product to an intelligent assistant through AI. The core focus of Goldman Sachs is not whether the AI direction is correct, but rather how long it will take for new capabilities to translate into user payment and revenue growth.
Once these products complete value verification in high-frequency office scenarios, Kingsoft Office’s large user base and existing subscription system are expected to become key supports for accelerating its AI commercialization.
