Google Cloud Vice President joins Nvidia as CMO, will report directly to Jensen Huang.

Nvidia has appointed Google Cloud executive Alison Wagonfeld as Chief Marketing Officer, marking a move by the Silicon Valley chipmaker to further enhance its brand influence and public image after establishing itself as the world's most valuable company.
According to Wagonfeld’s announcement on LinkedIn, she will officially leave Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, in late January and then join Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s leadership team. She described the position as a new role overseeing marketing and communications, aimed at helping Nvidia embark on its "next stage of growth."
This personnel change comes at a pivotal time as Nvidia seeks to rebrand itself. Although its AI processor business has driven a surge in revenue and it has climbed to the top of the tech sector in capital markets, its brand recognition still lags behind consumer giants such as Apple and Microsoft. Interbrand’s 2025 Best Global Brands list currently ranks Nvidia at number 15.
Wagonfeld stated in the announcement:
"I am excited to join another AI-leading company, moving from one to another during such a transformative period."
Brand Reinvention and Market Expansion
Wagonfeld brings extensive experience in cloud computing and enterprise services to Nvidia. She served at Google Cloud for about ten years as Vice President of Marketing. Google Cloud has long competed with Amazon and Microsoft for cloud customers and, like Nvidia, is a major beneficiary of the recent explosion in global AI spending.
Analysts view Wagonfeld's arrival as a significant signal of Nvidia’s commitment to strengthen its brand. For years, while Nvidia enjoyed high standing among hardcore PC gamers, it was a relatively obscure company for the broader public, with its name often mispronounced.
With the rise of the AI boom, Nvidia has rapidly become the world’s most valuable company. However, there remains a mismatch between its brand assets and its market value. Wagonfeld made it clear in her statement that as Nvidia enters a new stage of growth, she will lead the company’s marketing and communications efforts. This indicates Nvidia is trying to translate its technical dominance in the B2B market into broader brand influence.
Though Wagonfeld is moving from Google to Nvidia, this does not sever ties between the two tech giants. She specifically mentioned in her LinkedIn post the strong partnership between Google and Nvidia.
