Google Research recently launched a new KV cache compression method called TurboQuant. It is said that this technology can reduce the cache memory usage of large language models by at least 6 times without loss of accuracy, and achieve up to 8 times acceleration, aiming to solve the memory bottleneck problem in AI inference and vector search.
Affected by this news, U.S. stock storage sector collectively declined. At the close, SanDisk fell 6.5%, Micron Technology dropped more than 4%, Western Digital dropped more than 4%, and Seagate Technology dropped more than 5%.
