Honor initiates the AI terminal ecosystem transformation battle.

Honor Terminal Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Honor”), which is currently undergoing IPO counseling, is ushering in a critical moment of transformation.
On October 23, Honor held its first Global Developer Conference and AI Terminal Ecosystem Conference with the theme “Intelligent Connectivity Without Boundaries, Ecosystem Co-Creation”—and released the Magic OS 10 AI agent operating system, showcasing Honor’s complete layout in the field of AI terminal ecosystems.
This marks that Honor is beginning its transformation from a device manufacturer to an AI terminal ecosystem company.
According to Honor Chairman Wu Hui, Honor has cumulatively invested over 10 billion yuan in AI R&D.
This time, Honor released its “1×3×N” ecosystem strategy, creating an intelligent, interconnected ecosystem across brands, scenarios, and devices.
Among them, “1” stands for the HONOR AI Connect platform, opening up Honor’s AI capabilities to all ecosystem partners; “3” represents supporting partners through three modes: “ecosystem,” “channels,” and “technology & brand”; “N” means that Honor will cover N industry clusters such as education & office, smart home, audio wearables, toy companionship, pets, and more.
This provides a complete solution for hardware devices to break through “intelligent islands” and achieve the leap from “single-function tools” to “all-scenario intelligent terminals.”
According to Xin Feng’s on-site understanding, multiple smart home brands including Haier have already joined Honor’s intelligent interconnection ecosystem, which is expected to break the current status where smart home apps operate independently.
Currently, devices of many smart home brands are not yet interconnected, so users often need to download multiple smart home brand apps on one phone: the Haier air conditioner at home needs the “Haier Smart Home” app to control, while the Xiaomi steam oven requires opening the “Mijia” app, etc.
The sense of fragmentation between apps makes many users unable to truly experience the convenience smart home devices bring to life.
According to Zhang Huajun, General Manager of Haier Smart Home Ecosystem, the monthly active users of the “Haier Smart Home” app now reach 13 million, which only accounts for 30% of device activations; the other 70% of smart devices are dormant.
Regarding the cooperation with Honor, Zhang Huajun believes that as an enterprise focused on appliances and smart home fields, it does not make much sense for Haier to invest a large number of resources in independently developing cloud technology, computing power, and general large models. Its core focus should remain on doing a good job with vertical large models in the smart home field, and then—through cooperative collaboration with ecosystem partners—only then can industry efficiency and user experience be maximized in an era of open interconnection.
In its vision for future device interconnection, Honor plans to connect devices of different brands via a “tap-to-connect” method.
“We tap our phone against the device; as long as the other device has Honor Interconnect installed, it can directly awaken the application. If the other party doesn’t have Honor Interconnect, through one tap we can transmit the lightweight Honor Interconnect app. Once it’s transmitted, no matter what brand of phone the other party uses, they’ll have the ability to interconnect with Honor phones and devices,” an internal Honor source said.
Smart home is just one of the scenarios where the Honor Interconnect ecosystem is landing. In the future, as more industry companies join, the interconnectivity will penetrate more life scenarios of Honor users, reshaping device collaboration logic.
