Huawei Press Conference Live: Mate 80 series features full metal architecture and is the first to run HarmonyOS 6.
On November 25, Huawei held the Mate 80 Series | Mate X7 and All-Scenario New Product Launch Event. At the event, Huawei executive director and Terminal BG chairman Yu Chengdong unveiled four models of the Mate 80 series.

The Huawei Mate 80 series consists of four models: Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and Mate 80 RS Extraordinary Master. In terms of colors, the Mate 80 standard and Pro versions come in Obsidian Black, Snow White, Dawn Gold, and Spruce Green. Mate 80 Pro Max is available in Extreme Night Black, Polar Silver, Daylight Gold, and Aurora Green, while the high-end Mate 80 RS Extraordinary Master offers Hibiscus Purple, Mysterious Black, and Bright White.

8000-nit screen, larger flat display & 3D TOF all models standard
This Mate 80 series adopts an all-around 2.5D flat screen design, with the Mate 80 Pro Max featuring a 6.9-inch display. Huawei has added a 3D TOF depth-sensing camera (including transmit/receive modules) and AI posture sensing to the front module for more precise facial recognition and interactive experience.

The Mate 80 Pro Max uses dual-layer OLED and debuts the "Linglong Screen," with brightness reaching 8000 nits, setting a new record in the mobile phone industry. Compared to the previous generation, screen lifespan has increased by 40% and peak brightness by 80%.
Huawei also introduced AI Pixel per-pixel calibration technology, improving brightness uniformity by more than 30%. When taking photos outdoors or viewing content under strong light, both the viewfinder and images remain clear and visible. With intelligent fatigue detection and dynamic color temperature adjustment, visual fatigue can be reduced by over 20%.

Substantial performance leap, fully upgraded Ark Engine
Thanks to deep optimization from HarmonyOS 6 and integrated software/hardware Nebula architecture, the Mate 80 series has significantly improved continuity and responsiveness:
App launch speed increased by 30%–40%3D JS rendering performance improved by 33%Game ray tracing calculation per second exceeded 20 million
Huawei states that overall performance of the Mate 80 series compared to the Mate 70 series has increased by more than 35%, with the 16GB RAM versions of Pro and Pro Max seeing over a 42% improvement.

All-metal architecture returns: Enhanced antenna capability claimed as industry breakthrough
Huawei has achieved compatibility between all-metal bodies and high-performance antennas for the first time in the 5G era. The Mate 80 Pro Max is equipped with enhanced antenna structure, increasing signal strength by 1dB compared to the Mate 70 Pro+, and about 3dB more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Under weak network conditions, the Mate 80 series’ livestreaming smoothness is 55% higher than other flagship models.

Media analysis previously suggested that pre-orders for the new Mate 80 series are booming, with some models’ delivery dates already scheduled for next year: the standard version is expected to ship before December 21, while Pro, Pro Max and RS Extraordinary Master versions are lined up until January 31, 2026.
Analysts speculate that the standard version uses the Kirin 9020 chip, with full production capacity and the highest stock, while the higher-end versions use the Kirin 9030 series, which is still ramping up production.
