Jensen Huang: AI leaders should avoid spreading panic, optimistic about Anthropic’s revenue surpassing one trillion by 2030

Jensen Huang warns that technology industry leaders must be careful when discussing AI risks, and must avoid turning reasonable risk reminders into unwarranted panic.

On March 19, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, when asked how AI startup Anthropic could better handle its contract dispute with the U.S. Department of Defense, said:

We really want to remind people of the potential risks of this technology. Reminders are good, scaremongering is not, because this technology is too important to us.

In the subsequent panel discussion, which was released in podcast form, Jensen Huang acknowledged Anthropic’s mission and safety philosophy, but directly pointed out that the industry tends to exaggerate when describing AI risks.

He pointed out that his position is based on this core logic: For U.S. national security, the greatest AI risk does not come from the technology itself, but from American society slowing adoption of AI out of anger, fear, or paranoia.

Jensen Huang said:

It is not a biological entity, not an alien species, nor does it have consciousness. It is computer software. To make such extreme, catastrophic statements with no evidence behind them may cause deeper harm than people realize.

Meanwhile, Jensen Huang remains optimistic about Anthropic’s business prospects, expecting the company’s revenue to exceed $1 trillion by 2030, and believes its CEO Dario Amodei’s forecast is too conservative.

Firm Support for Anthropic: $1 Trillion Revenue by 2030

Despite Anthropic being deeply embroiled in a dispute with the government, Jensen Huang does not view this as diminishing its commercial potential.

In the discussion, he expressed his belief that Anthropic’s annual revenue could surpass $1 trillion by 2030, and added that Amodei has always been conservative in his own estimates.

This means Jensen Huang maintains strong confidence in Anthropic’s core business value, forming a clear contrast with the current political controversies surrounding the company.

WallstreetCN mentions that Anthropic is vigorously countering the U.S. Department of Defense’s classification of it as a "national security supply chain risk" through legal channels.

The root of the conflict lies in Amodei’s insistence on explicitly forbidding his products from being used to monitor U.S. citizens or develop fully autonomous weapon systems in the contract.

Regarding these clause requirements, the Trump administration reacted strongly: labeling Anthropic as a supply chain risk and moving to remove it from all government projects. Anthropic has already filed a lawsuit, and the standoff continues.

Anthropic is an important customer for NVIDIA and is the developer of the Claude series of chatbots.
