狂卖126亿美元!贝佐斯前妻过去一年“卖掉近半”亚马逊持股 Frenzied sale of $12.6 billion! Bezos’ ex-wife sold “nearly half” of her Amazon shares in the past year

Bezos' ex-wife again makes a major reduction in Amazon shares, selling over $12.6 billion worth in the past year.
According to a regulatory filing disclosed on October 14, as of September 30 this year, MacKenzie Scott held 81.1 million Amazon shares, a decrease of 58 million shares from a year earlier. Based on Tuesday's closing price, these reduced shares are valued at up to $12.6 billion, accounting for a 42% reduction.
The 55-year-old Scott is known for providing large, no-strings-attached grants to small nonprofit organizations, in stark contrast to many billionaire peers who favor high-profile donations.
According to her Yield Giving website, last year she donated $2 billion to 199 organizations, bringing her cumulative donations over roughly five years to a total of $19.25 billion.
After divorcing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2019, Scott acquired about 4% of the tech giant’s shares.
According to the agreement, Bezos still exercises voting rights over the shares she holds and must disclose this holding information annually. Despite Scott's large-scale donations, her wealth has increased since the divorce due to Amazon’s surging stock price. She has pledged to give away most of her fortune.
The regulatory filing did not specify whether the reduction in shares was due to sales or donations. Scott and Yield Giving have not yet commented.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, before this latest reduction, Scott’s net worth was $41.2 billion. This massive sell-off once again highlights her commitment to philanthropy and reflects the trend of tech giant shareholders monetizing shares to support social welfare initiatives.
Although the scale of the reduction is huge, Scott still holds Amazon shares worth over $17.5 billion, providing ample funding for her future charitable donations. Her donation style is characterized by speed, directness, and trust in recipients, drawing significant attention in the philanthropic sector.
