Muse surpasses 5 million downloads in 22 days! Its popularity surpasses that of ChatGPT back in the day.

Meta's AI agent application Muse surpassed 5 million downloads in just 22 days after its launch, outpacing mainstream AI products such as ChatGPT and Claude, becoming one of the fastest-growing products in the consumer AI market to date.

According to the latest data from market research firm Sensor Tower, Muse launched in the US and Canada on September 8th and had surpassed 5 million downloads by September 30th. In comparison, OpenAI's ChatGPT took 56 days to reach the same milestone, SpaceX's Grok took 103 days, and Anthropic's Claude took a whopping 492 days. Muse's explosive growth has impressed the market with Meta's capabilities in the consumer AI field.

Muse currently remains at the top of both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store charts. This achievement further strengthens market confidence in the implementation capabilities of Meta AI's strategy and intensifies competition in the AI intelligent agent sector.

Muse breaks growth record for consumer-grade AI intelligent agents.

Muse's core differentiator lies in its product design geared towards ordinary consumers. Previously, the main user group of AI agent platforms was concentrated among technology developers and enterprise users, while Muse significantly lowers the barrier to entry for ordinary users through customizable anthropomorphic virtual avatars and a simple and easy-to-use interactive interface.

It's worth noting that Muse isn't the fastest app to reach 5 million downloads in history. Sensor Tower points out that Disney+, HBO Max, Threads, Candy Crush, Pokémon Go, and Fortnite all achieved higher download numbers within similar timeframes. However, in the niche market of AI agents, Muse's growth rate remains significant.

Furthermore, when ChatGPT launched in November 2022, it was the first mainstream generative AI chatbot for the general public. At that time, the market was still in the early stages of understanding this type of product, which to some extent explains its relatively slow early growth.

Meta invests heavily in advertising to strongly drive downloads.

Muse's rapid growth is not entirely dependent on organic traffic; Meta's large-scale investment in marketing has also played a significant role.

According to Sensor Tower data, Muse received 50% of Meta's daily house impressions in the two weeks from September 14 to September 27, and ranked among the top 15 brands in the United States in terms of advertising impressions.

Muse is currently available for free download and use. Meta stated that it will extract a small commission from transactions facilitated through this intelligent agent in the future, thereby building a path to commercial monetization.

Competition intensifies in the AI intelligent agent field, with OpenAI closely following behind.

The popularity of Muse reflects the accelerated pace of technological giants in the field of AI agents. Just one day before the release of Muse's data, OpenAI also launched its own AI agent platform, which also features customizable cartoonish virtual avatars and is named Dots.

Currently, Dots is primarily aimed at the enterprise market, but OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar stated that the company will also open the platform to consumers in the future.

The successive moves by the two AI giants in the intelligent agent field indicate that competition in this market will become even more intense, and whoever can establish a scale advantage on the consumer side first may become the key variable in the next stage of AI commercialization competition.
