Musk reveals SpaceX’s latest blueprint: AI satellites to launch next year, Mars landing in five years, and sending tens of thousands of people to the moon in ten years.
In his latest interview, Musk painted a vision of SpaceX’s commercial possibilities over the next ten years: not only planning to deploy "space AI data centers" within two years to break Earth’s computing bottleneck, but also setting an aggressive timeline—landing on the Moon within three years at the earliest, landing on Mars within five years.
Recently, on the Sean Hannity Show, guest-hosted by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, SpaceX founder Elon Musk disclosed in detail the company’s latest operating data, business layout, and deep space exploration goals for the coming decade.
As one of the world’s highest-valued privately held companies, SpaceX’s actual business scale has always garnered market attention. Musk opened the interview by stating SpaceX’s industry monopoly with absolute numbers: “Currently, SpaceX sends about 85% of Earth’s payload into orbit.”
Besides providing high-bandwidth, low-latency Starlink network globally and serving as NASA’s only certified U.S. commercial crewed spaceflight provider, Musk presented investors with a business story far grander and more disruptive than traditional satellite launches.

As global AI arms races intensify, land, electricity, and water are becoming physical constraints for data center expansion—and Musk has set his sights on outer space. This is the biggest market-moving information of the interview.
“I think the real solution for expanding computational power is in space. There's an enormous amount of room there,” Musk explained the business logic. “If you look at Earth compared to the Sun or the solar system's volume, you'll realize how tiny Earth is. We only receive five billionths of the Sun’s energy. You can think of Earth as a tiny speck of dust in immense darkness.”
Regarding the concrete timeline for the space data centers, Musk provided clear guidance: “To expand computational power without exhausting Earth’s land, we need to do it in space. That way, you don’t have to consume Earth’s space, electricity, or water. So, we’ll probably launch the first batch of AI satellites next year, then achieve large-scale deployment within about two years.”
Employee Ownership: Thousands of line workers have become millionaires
Behind the company’s rapid expansion, SpaceX's equity incentive scheme has also drawn market attention.
There were previous rumors that a welder earning $28 per hour got rich from holding company stock. Musk not only confirmed this, but revealed even more massive wealth creation.
“From day one, I’ve held this principle: every employee should get company stock, so they can share in its upside.” Musk said. “When the company prospers, the employees prosper too. This is very helpful for aligning goals.”
He further showed the company’s wealth creation ability: “It’s not just the story of a welder. We have thousands of employees working on the production line who are now millionaires. If they joined early enough, their stock could now be worth over a million dollars.”
Interstellar Colonization: “Turning science fiction into reality”
Regarding the Moon and Mars plans most closely watched by the market, although Musk’s previous timelines have often been delayed, in this interview he again gave extremely confident and aggressive guidance.
For building a lunar base, Musk expects the first batch of astronauts to reach the Moon within two to three years at the earliest.
“If all goes well, we might send the first astronauts to the Moon in 2–3 years, and then expand quickly from there. About ten years later, there will be thousands of people on the Moon.”
His vision is not just a simple research station but a fully functional city: “Ultimately, we want to transport tens of thousands of tons of supplies to the Moon—essentially build a city there. People can not only settle permanently, but even vacation there. Imagine, ‘Honey, instead of Singapore this year, let’s go to the Moon!’ It’ll be an amazing honeymoon trip.”
As for Mars colonization, which is far more difficult than the Moon, Musk admitted that the launch window from Earth to Mars only appears once every 26 months, and it takes six months one way—greatly increasing the challenge. But SpaceX still sets a tight timeline.
“If all goes well, we’ll be able to send the first humans to Mars in about five years,” Musk said at the end of the interview without hiding his ambition. “Then we’ll dramatically increase the number of ships going to Mars every two years. Hopefully, in 10–12 years, we can send thousands of people to Mars. We want to turn what people read in science fiction into reality—not just leave it in fiction, but become a truly spacefaring civilization traveling among the stars.”
