Novo Nordisk expands the "Health Ecosystem Alliance" at the CIIE, ushering in the 2.0 era of digital chronic disease management.

At the 8th China International Import Expo, Novo Nordisk announced a comprehensive upgrade of the “Health Ecosystem Alliance.” This ecosystem platform, established in 2023, has now advanced from a single attempt at medical digitalization to a new stage of cross-industry co-construction.

Representatives from enterprises such as JD Health, Ali Health, Tencent Health, Ping An Good Doctor, Ark Janke, Sinocare, Medtrum, Yuwell, Silicon-based Bionics, LifeSmart Health, and Huawei Health were all present to jointly witness the expansion of the alliance and the release of two new products—the “NovoCare” HarmonyOS app and the “NovoCare” weight management exclusive edition.

Further expansion of the digital network, ushering in ecosystem co-governance for chronic disease management

Chronic disease management is moving from “individual treatment” to “systematic collaboration.” As one of the initiators, Novo Nordisk hopes to establish an “online + offline” smart chronic disease management network through the Health Ecosystem Alliance, enabling seamless data integration among doctors, pharmaceutical companies, device manufacturers, and platforms to create a sustainable closed loop.

E-commerce platforms are expanding their service boundaries to help health information reach more people; device companies are accelerating integration of dynamic monitoring and health reports; tech companies are injecting algorithms and connectivity, driving continuous innovation in the ecosystem.

This year, Novo Nordisk has partnered with Ali Health, JD Health, Ping An Good Doctor, Tencent Health, and Ark Janke to build a digital chronic disease management ecosystem chain. Through the collaborative mechanism of early screening, early diagnosis, and early treatment, smart healthcare becomes not just limited to hospitals, but a daily infrastructure close to every patient.

Device interconnectivity and data integration: Closed-loop management from blood glucose to exercise

In the new phase of the alliance, Novo Nordisk will cooperate with Medtrum and Yuwell to integrate data from insulin injection pens and continuous glucose monitors, enabling visualized blood glucose and medication management for patients. The partnership with Huawei Health incorporates key physiological indicators such as exercise and heart rate into the “NovoCare” platform to form a richer health profile.

From a technical perspective, this represents full integration from disease management to lifestyle management—not only tracking blood glucose, but also quantifying exercise, diet, and medication, empowering patients to truly achieve “self-management.”

“NovoCare” releases dual editions, reshaping the digital companion experience

Since its launch in 2021, “NovoCare” has become the core support for Novo Nordisk’s digital strategy. It operates on both an app and a mini-program, providing customized health management solutions for patients with diabetes, rare diseases, and obesity.

The newly released HarmonyOS edition app adapts to Huawei’s full-scenario devices and links to Huawei Health data for cross-platform management. The “weight management exclusive edition” focuses specifically on obesity management, offering users disease education, smart medication guidance, health companion tools, and a “pharmacy map” function—serving as a one-stop digital platform covering both general and prescription patients.

Patient-centered technology implementation

At the launch event, Zhou Xiaping, Senior Vice President of Novo Nordisk Global and President of Greater China, stated:

“Digital innovation is reshaping the way chronic diseases are managed. We hope to work with China’s leading digital ecosystem partners to build a future-oriented health service model, making technology a true productive force for health.”

She emphasized that Novo Nordisk’s goal is not only drug innovation but also to improve the health literacy of the whole population through digital services, providing long-term support for the ‘Healthy China’ strategy.
