OpenAI expands ChatGPT's advertising AI capabilities to test new ad interaction formats.
OpenAI is accelerating its entry into the advertising market, attempting to apply AI capabilities to ad placement, consumer interaction, and other aspects.
On Wednesday, Bloomberg reported that OpenAI announced the launch of AI tools for advertisers and began testing a "Sponsored Agents" feature. Users who click on ads in ChatGPT can interact with a company-sponsored AI agent and further access the company's website.
At the same time, OpenAI announced partnerships with customer relationship management platform HubSpot and e-commerce platform Shopify. HubSpot becomes OpenAI's first CRM partner for its advertising platform, while Shopify becomes its first e-commerce partner. The Shopify app will launch gradually in international markets covered by ChatGPT advertising starting September 23.
OpenAI expands its advertising business by combining advertising agencies with AI tools.
Sponsored Agents allow users to interact with company-sponsored AI agents within the ChatGPT interface. OpenAI states that these agents are clearly labeled and kept separate from ChatGPT's independent responses and the user's original conversations. Currently, this feature is being tested with select advertisers in the United States.
For advertisers, OpenAI also launched Ads Manager, which supports creating, updating, and analyzing advertising campaigns using natural language commands. Advertisers can also input website content or marketing briefs, and AI will generate advertising plans, recommending copy and images based on landing page content and marketing objectives.
In addition, Ads Manager provides ad performance analysis and optimization suggestions. The optional AI-powered text customization feature can adjust ad titles and descriptions based on the conversational context and translate the copy into the user's preferred language.
In terms of partners, HubSpot and Shopify cover CRM and e-commerce scenarios respectively. With the launch of the Shopify app, OpenAI will further extend its advertising tools to the e-commerce marketing process.
