OpenAI is reportedly preparing a $500 "Pro Max" package: featuring the fastest Work and Codex processors, and potentially integrating Cerebras computing power.
OpenAI may be planning to launch a high-end subscription plan priced at $500, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.
On September 24, according to the technology news tracking account TestingCatalog, OpenAI is preparing to launch a ChatGPT subscription plan called "Pro Max", priced at $500 per month, and may be supported by Cerebras infrastructure.
If the plan is ultimately implemented, it will provide the company with a new way to charge a premium for advanced features and massive computing power.
Currently, OpenAI's official pricing page only lists six packages: Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise. The Pro Max option is not listed.
Market focus shifts to DevDay 2026
According to TestingCatalog, the main difference between Pro Max and the existing Pro plan is the addition of the "Fastest Work and Codex" feature, and the usage limit may also be further increased.
However, the report did not explain exactly how much faster the "fastest working speed" was, nor did it specify the form of Codex access permissions, or whether Cerebras would ultimately take over the computing power support for this package.
TestingCatalog links this rumor to "long-running tasks," which are tasks that require ChatGPT to perform operations continuously over a longer period of time, rather than simply answering a single question.
According to reports, more details may be revealed at OpenAI DevDay 2026 in San Francisco on September 29, but this is only speculation from the account.
The official event announcement released by OpenAI did not mention anything about the Pro Max program.
