OpenAI's enterprise business is showing strong momentum; CFO reports 32% month-over-month growth in July.
OpenAI's enterprise business is experiencing further accelerated growth.
According to CNBC, OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar stated at a Goldman Sachs conference that the company's enterprise business has recently performed "very strongly." She revealed that OpenAI's overall annualized revenue run rate increased by 20% month-over-month from June to July, with the enterprise business growing by 32% month-over-month in July.
Friar stated that OpenAI's consumer business is also growing at a "pretty good pace," but its enterprise business is performing even better. Enterprise customers are becoming a key growth engine driving OpenAI's commercial expansion.
From a business structure perspective, OpenAI is gradually shifting from a business model primarily focused on ChatGPT consumer users to further extending its reach to enterprise-level artificial intelligence services. As enterprise customers apply generative AI to scenarios such as software development, office automation, customer service, and knowledge management, the growth potential for enterprise subscriptions and APIs continues to expand.
The accelerated pace of enterprise business also means that OpenAI's revenue growth is gaining broader support from commercial customers. Against the backdrop of intensifying competition in the AI industry and continuously declining model costs, enterprise customers' willingness to pay and the value of long-term contracts will become important indicators for measuring OpenAI's commercialization capabilities.
Friar's July data also shows that OpenAI's overall revenue continues to grow rapidly. If enterprise business continues to grow faster than consumer business, its revenue structure may further shift towards the enterprise market, becoming a key pillar for the company's future large-scale monetization.
