Two days ago, a "meaning unclear" poster published by Alibaba’s official account triggered widespread speculation in the tech circle: the image of a lively, dimpled-smiling woman, accompanied by a brief caption, "See you April 22, Hello World."

After a few days of suspense, the answer was finally revealed on April 22—Alibaba officially released its ecosystem-level AI assistant digital character “Qianwen Xiao Jiuwuo.”

According to Wallstreetcn's information, as the unified digital character for Qianwen AI, “Qianwen Xiao Jiuwuo” will not only settle into the Qianwen App, but will next comprehensively enter Taobao, Fliggy, Gaode, Alipay and other Alibaba ecosystem applications.

Clearly, “Qianwen Xiao Jiuwuo” is not the new AI product that the public previously expected, but rather an upgrade of the Qianwen AI assistant’s image, hoping to win users' minds with a more approachable figure, similar to the branding role played by ByteDance’s Doubao AI assistant character.

However, in releasing “Qianwen Xiao Jiuwuo,” Alibaba also sent a signal that it will accelerate the Alibaba AI ecosystem's integration through this unified AI assistant image.

The “work capability” emphasized by the Qianwen App in the past will be realized through the entry point of “Qianwen Xiao Jiuwuo.”

It's worth noting that, according to Wallstreetcn, Alibaba (China) Co., Ltd. has officially submitted four trademark applications named “Qianwen Xiao Jiuwuo” to the National Trademark Bureau on March 10.

The projects applied for include AI as a Service (AIaaS), chat bot software for simulated conversations, humanoid robots with artificial intelligence for scientific research, and humanoid robots with communication and learning functions for assisting humans and entertainment, all currently in “registration application” status.

In other words, besides being a digital character, Alibaba may also use the “Qianwen Xiao Jiuwuo” brand when venturing into embodied intelligence in the future.

Last November, Alibaba officially announced the launch of the public beta version of the Qianwen App, aiming to create the future “AI lifestyle entry point,” becoming a personal AI assistant “that can chat and get things done.”

After entering the competition for the AI super entry point, the momentum of Qianwen App has been very strong.

According to the latest QuestMobile release, as of March 2026, among AI-native Apps by monthly active user scale, Doubao, Qianwen, and DeepSeek ranked in the top three, with monthly active users of 345 million, 166 million and 127 million respectively.

Qianwen has announced Alibaba’s ambition to vigorously advance into the AI-to-C market, and also to some extent implied Alibaba’s dissatisfaction with the App only having over three million monthly active users previously.

QuestMobile data shows that in the first quarter of this year, Doubao’s monthly active users increased by 100 million, while Qianwen increased by 126 million, its ranking rising from TOP6 in November 2025 to TOP2.

However, in terms of user stickiness, Qianwen App did not make it into the top three. In the first quarter this year, Doubao’s average monthly usage per user reached 54.8 times/month, DeepSeek reached 41.7 times/month, Kuai Dui AI was 27.6 times/month, Tencent Yuanyao reached 25.9 times/month, and Qianwen was 19.8 times/month.

In the second half of the large model competition, the generational gap brought about by technical leadership is narrowing. Whoever can first improve the “work capability” and capture users' minds will have the discourse power for the next decade. The battle for the "physical AI entry point" has only just begun.
