Russian Defense Minister Shoigu visits China, entrusted by President Putin to communicate strategy.
On February 1, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, met in Beijing with Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. The two sides conducted in-depth strategic communication on various international and regional issues of common concern.

According to TASS, Shoigu arrived in Beijing on February 1 to hold consultations with the Chinese side on topics such as the international and regional security situation. The Russian "Moscow Komsomolets" newspaper reported that as comprehensive strategic partners in the new era, the two sides regularly exchange views on current global and regional developments.
During the meeting, Wang Yi stated that the current world is increasingly turbulent and intertwined, and the international order and norms of international relations established after World War II have been severely impacted. The world faces the real danger of regressing to the "law of the jungle". As major powers in the world and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China and Russia have the responsibility and obligation to practice genuine multilateralism, uphold the international system with the UN at its core, advocate for an equal and orderly multipolar world, inclusive and shared economic globalization, and promote the building of a more just and reasonable global governance system.
Wang Yi said that China and Russia, being each other's largest neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners in the new era, should maintain close communication on major issues related to the bilateral relationship, increase mutual support on issues involving each other's core interests, and safeguard both respective and joint interests of the two countries.
Shoigu stated that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Russian Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation, and the two countries' relations are based on mutual respect, trust, equality and mutual benefit. Since the beginning of the year, the global situation has undergone drastic changes, with frequent security hotspots. Russia has always adhered to the one-China principle, closely monitors hostile forces' attempts to undermine stability in the Taiwan Strait, and resolutely opposes Japan's accelerated plans for "remilitarization."
TASS reported that Shoigu stated he was entrusted by President Putin to visit China for strategic communication. "I am always happy to visit China's capital, and this time I am especially pleased to come here on the eve of the Spring Festival," he said, and wished the Chinese people a happy Lunar New Year of the Horse.
