Samsung Electronics announced the start of mass production of its most advanced data center storage product. This enterprise-grade solid-state drive will be included in Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin platform, marking a further consolidation of the Korean chip giant’s position in the AI infrastructure supply chain.
Samsung stated in a Wednesday announcement that its PM1763 enterprise-grade solid-state drive has officially entered mass production. This product features Samsung’s latest V-NAND flash chip and a newly developed 4-nanometer controller. Its read and write speeds are more than double that of the previous generation, and it is equipped with a liquid cooling system to support continuous high-speed operation during AI training and inference processes.
Following the news, Samsung’s stock price showed little change. Chip stocks have become more volatile recently, as investors seek overlooked AI beneficiaries while rotating out of stocks with excessive valuations.
PM1763: Storage Solution Custom-Built for AI Data Centers
PM1763 had previously debuted at Nvidia’s GTC event. Samsung showcased it alongside next-generation high-bandwidth memory HBM4 and low-power SOCAMM2 modules, launching them as a comprehensive solution package for AI data centers.
According to Samsung, the core design objective of PM1763 is to reduce data latency for advanced processors and AI accelerators. The introduction of liquid cooling technology is aimed at maintaining stable read/write performance under high-intensity AI workloads, preventing speed drops caused by thermal bottlenecks.
Samsung Leads the Enterprise SSD Market
According to market research firm TrendForce, in the first quarter of 2026, Samsung ranks first in the enterprise solid-state drive market with a 35% share, followed by SK Hynix, Micron Technology, Kioxia Holdings, and Kioxia’s partner Sandisk.
This mass production announcement further reinforces Samsung’s leading position in this market segment. As AI data centers continue to demand increased storage performance, enterprise-grade SSDs are becoming an indispensable component in the AI infrastructure investment chain, and related competition is heating up.
