On July 7, according to an internal memo obtained by The Information, the release of the model had previously been postponed because both companies wanted to further improve its operational efficiency.

The memo states that the model is expected to have rapid information processing capabilities, and can compete with Anthropic’s Opus 4.8 and OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 on certain benchmarks.

According to The Information, the main advantage of the model planned for release by the two companies lies in information processing speed, and it possesses the ability to compete with top mainstream models in certain dimensions.

Cursor CEO Michael Truell previously disclosed at an event for company clients that Cursor is developing an AI model. The model is being trained from scratch at xAI’s Colossus data center, with the goal of directly competing with models from Anthropic and OpenAI.
