SpaceX signs multi-billion dollar computing power supply agreement with Reflection AI

```
SpaceX is accelerating its transformation into an AI computing infrastructure provider. After signing large-scale compute lease agreements with Google and Anthropic, SpaceX has added a new emerging AI startup to its client list.
According to Reflection AI’s announcement on Monday, the company will pay SpaceX’s AI division SpaceXAI for computing power, with monthly payments of $150 million from July this year until 2029. Reflection AI will utilize hardware resources at SpaceX’s Colossus 2 data center in Memphis, Tennessee.
This deal is the latest in a series of large-scale compute sales agreements recently secured by SpaceX. SpaceX has previously signed agreements with Google (under Alphabet) and Anthropic PBC: Google has committed to paying $30 billion by mid-2029, while Anthropic has committed to paying $45 billion within a similar timeframe.
The succession of contracts indicates that SpaceX is treating the sale of computing capacity as a core strategic business, aiming to establish leadership in the AI infrastructure market.
On Monday, SpaceX’s stock price fell more than 10% at one point, then rebounded slightly, and was down 9.25% at press time.
Agreement details: $150 million monthly, locked to Colossus 2 computing power
According to information disclosed by Reflection AI, the company will pay SpaceXAI compute lease fees starting in July this year, with the contract running until 2029 and a monthly payment of $150 million. The total value of the agreement will reach several billion dollars.
Reflection AI will draw compute from SpaceX’s Colossus 2 data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Both parties have included flexible exit mechanisms in the agreement—either side can terminate collaboration with 90 days' notice. This is structurally similar to the terms SpaceX previously signed with Google and Anthropic.
"More compute means greater possibilities, allowing us to build the world’s best open models at scale," a Reflection AI spokesperson stated.
SpaceX’s compute landscape: From rocket company to AI infrastructure provider
Even though Musk has yet to gain an edge in AI model development, SpaceX has amassed significant compute capacity by stockpiling chips and continuously expanding multiple large data centers.
The three recent major deals—Google ($30 billion), Anthropic ($45 billion), Reflection AI (several billion dollars)—collectively outline SpaceX’s business path in AI infrastructure: renting out its data center compute to external AI companies and turning heavy assets into sustained revenue sources.
It’s noteworthy that both Google and Anthropic are considered competitors of SpaceX in the AI ecosystem, but now have become paying customers for its compute resources, highlighting the urgent demand for high-quality compute in the current market.
Reflection AI: Founded by former DeepMind researchers, valued at $25 billion
Reflection AI was founded by two former Google DeepMind researchers and is positioned as a builder of open AI models, focusing on open-source large model development.
On the capital side, Reflection AI is backed by institutions including Nvidia. According to media reports, the company is negotiating a new round of financing, targeting $2.5 billion at a $25 billion valuation.
This long-term compute binding agreement with SpaceX lays the foundation for Reflection AI to continue training large models at scale.
