Starting from 3.9 million yuan! Unitree releases the world's first mass-produced manned transforming mech GD01, CEO personally test-drives it.

Unitree Robotics brings science fiction into reality, taking manned mechs from conceptual prototypes to the stage of mass production for civilian use.

On the 12th, according to Unitree Robotics’ official Weibo, Unitree officially released the world’s first mass-produced manned mech—the GD01 Manned Transformable Mech, with a starting price of 3.9 million yuan (about $650,000).

Unitree Robotics CEO Wang Xingxing personally drove the GD01 for a field test, with real-time filming and no acceleration processing. The total weight of the mech with a passenger is about 500kg. It can freely switch between biped and quadruped modes: biped mode is suitable for walking and turning on urban streets, while quadruped mode allows it to handle stairs, slopes, and other complex terrain.

This release is not only the debut of a new product, but also reflects Unitree Robotics’ leapfrog technological evolution in recent years—from quadruped robot dogs, to humanoid robots, and then to manned mechs, continuously reducing iteration cycles. Meanwhile, Unitree Robotics is sprinting toward a STAR Market IPO, aiming to become the first humanoid robotics stock on the A-share market.

Dual-mode transformation, 500kg dynamic balance

The core technological highlights of GD01 lie in deeply integrating Unitree’s previously accumulated quadruped and humanoid robot technologies, achieving three key capabilities: 500kg-level dynamic balance control, real-time human-machine integrated control, and seamless switching between biped and quadruped modes.

In biped mode, GD01 can walk and turn normally on urban streets, adapting to everyday urban scenarios;

When switched to quadruped mode, the mech can climb stairs, tackle slopes and all kinds of extreme terrain, and can even kick down a brick wall with one leg;

Unitree emphasizes that this is not a conceptual prototype vehicle, but a truly mass-producible civilian vehicle.

Three leaps in two years, science fiction lands ten years early

The release of GD01 is a microcosm of Unitree Robotics’ fast-evolving technological path. Two years ago, Unitree sold the Go1 quadruped robot dog at a price of several thousand dollars; a year ago, it launched the G1 humanoid robot; now, manned mechs have hit the streets.

This iteration pace has attracted industry attention. The general consensus was that manned mechs were still ten years away from commercialization, but Unitree has moved this timeline up significantly to 2026. GD01 is seen as the culmination of Unitree’s complete integration of quadruped and humanoid technological paths, rather than a simple upscaling of a humanoid robot.

Revenue triples in three years, humanoid robots become the core pillar

Behind this product breakthrough, Unitree Robotics’ financial performance is equally impressive. According to disclosed data, operating revenue from 2022 to 2024 was 123 million, 159 million, and 392 million yuan respectively; revenue for January to September 2025 has already reached 1.167 billion yuan, with full-year projected operating income rising further to 1.7 billion yuan.

The change in revenue structure is particularly noteworthy. Income from humanoid robot business rose rapidly from 1.88% in 2023 to 51.53% from January to September 2025, forming a dual core revenue pillar together with quadruped robots.

In terms of profitability, the gross margin of main business rose from 44.18% in 2022 to 59.45% from January to September 2025; net profit reached 94.5 million yuan in 2024, and net profit attributable to parent after excluding non-recurring gains and losses will reach 600 million yuan in 2025.

Sprint to the STAR Market, aiming for the first humanoid robotics stock

While advancing products and performance on two fronts, Unitree Robotics is also accelerating its capital market layout. According to information from the Shanghai Stock Exchange website, Unitree Robotics’ STAR Market IPO application was accepted on March 20, becoming one of the STAR Market IPO “pre-reviewed” projects. The company is sprinting to become the first humanoid robotics stock listed on the A-share market.

The launch timing of GD01 highly overlaps with its IPO process. While strengthening Unitree Robotics’ image of technological leadership, it also provides new support for its capital market narrative. For investors, whether this company can translate the technological voice of mass-produced mechs into sustained commercial scale will be the key factor in assessing its listing value.
