Stellantis adjusts Asia-Pacific management: Xin Tianshu promoted to regional head, Olivi becomes strategic advisor
```
As its business in China continues to face pressure, Stellantis has appointed a key figure to oversee China and the Asia-Pacific region.
On July 23, Stellantis Group announced that, effective August 3, 2026, Xin Tianshu will serve as Head of China and Asia-Pacific for Stellantis Group, reporting directly to the Group CEO, Antonio Filosa. At the same time, Xin Tianshu will officially join the Stellantis Group Executive Team, with management responsibilities expanding from the China region to the entire Asia-Pacific. The Stellantis Group Executive Team, which is responsible for the highest level of decision-making and daily operations, consists of 15 members.
Meanwhile, the former Head of China and Asia-Pacific, Olivier, has been appointed as Strategic Advisor, reporting to Xin Tianshu.
According to available information, Xin Tianshu has 30 years of experience in operations management, strategy, business development, commercial mergers and acquisitions, sales, and marketing. In February 2025, Stellantis Group appointed him as Chief Operating Officer for China and as Head of the “Stellantis Group–Leapmotor” strategic alliance. In addition, since November 2023, he has served as CEO of the Leapmotor international joint venture.
Xin Tianshu’s career also includes senior management positions at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Visteon, and IHS. Prior to the formation of Stellantis, he was responsible for strategy, partnerships, and public affairs for PSA Group in China.
This personnel change comes against the backdrop of continued pressure on Stellantis Group’s business in China. In 2025, Stellantis sold only 43,000 vehicles in China, with a market share of just 0.2%. Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile’s annual sales were 51,500 vehicles, down more than 90% from the 710,000 peak in 2015. GAC Fiat Chrysler has already entered bankruptcy liquidation.
At the same time, the Group’s overall financial performance has seen significant fluctuations. For full-year 2025, net revenue was €153.508 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2%; net loss reached €22.332 billion, compared with a net profit of €5.520 billion in the same period in 2024. The loss was mainly due to €25.4 billion in exceptional costs from business restructuring initiated in the second half of the year.
On June 23, 2025, Antonio Filosa became Group CEO. In the following year, he and other top executives visited China a total of 10 times. On May 21, 2026, Filosa announced the “FaSTLAne 2030” strategic plan, committing to invest €60 billion before 2030 to launch over 60 brand-new models and 50 major facelifts. For the first time, “partnerships” were listed as a strategic pillar, with a particular focus on Chinese companies.
In terms of complete vehicle cooperation, Stellantis has laid out two pathways.
First is cooperation with Leapmotor. In October 2023, Stellantis acquired about a 21% stake in Leapmotor for €1.5 billion; in May 2026, they announced expanded cooperation with Leapmotor’s technology platform to be used for the first time in the Opel brand. In its first full year of operation in 2025, the Leapmotor International joint venture had operating revenue of €809 million, an increase of 462% year-on-year, with net profit of €44 million.
Second is cooperation with Dongfeng Group. On May 15, 2026, the two sides signed a strategic agreement with an investment of over RMB 8 billion. Starting in 2027, Peugeot and Jeep new energy models will be produced at the Wuhan plant, serving both the domestic Chinese market and global exports.
Xin Tianshu’s promotion comes at a key juncture as Stellantis seeks to reverse global difficulties by forging deeper ties with its Chinese partners.
From being appointed COO of China in February 2025 to now taking charge of the entire Asia-Pacific region, Xin Tianshu has achieved two promotions in less than a year and a half.
Stellantis stated that this personnel change aims to strengthen the management team in China and Asia-Pacific, and to accelerate execution of the Group’s value creation plan. For Xin Tianshu, the next task will be to advance business restructuring in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in the Chinese market, within the framework of Stellantis’ global strategic transformation.
