Tesla’s second-quarter delivery volume far exceeded market expectations, boosting confidence in the demand outlook for the electric vehicle giant.

Tesla delivered a total of 480,126 vehicles in the second quarter, a year-on-year increase of 25%, significantly higher than the Bloomberg consensus expectation of 396,466 vehicles.

In terms of specific models, the core volume drivers Model 3/Y delivered 467,762 vehicles this quarter, up 25% year-on-year, also well above the market expectation of 380,699 vehicles. The strong performance of Model 3/Y was the main driver of the overall delivery numbers beating expectations this quarter.

In terms of production, Tesla’s total vehicle output in the second quarter was 451,758 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 10%, exceeding the expectation of 408,142 vehicles. Among them, Model 3/Y produced 442,936 vehicles, a 12% year-on-year increase, also surpassing the market expectation of 361,034 vehicles.

This better-than-expected report is likely to support Tesla’s stock price and ease previous market concerns about slowing demand.
