The Israeli military claims to have carried out an airstrike on Iran's largest petrochemical facility, severely damaging over 85% of Iran's petrochemical export capacity.
The Israel Defense Forces issued a statement on the 6th, claiming to have carried out an airstrike on a large petrochemical complex in Asaluyeh, southern Iran, which is the largest petrochemical complex in Iran.
The statement said the Israeli military has attacked two of Iran's largest petrochemical complexes, causing severe damage to more than 85% of Iran's petrochemical export capacity.
The statement said that the facilities in Asaluyeh contain key infrastructure for producing materials used in explosives and ballistic missile propellants, serving as an important raw material supply hub for Iran's missile industry. The Israeli military will continue to intensify strikes against Iran's core military manufacturing infrastructure, aiming to cause "comprehensive and sustained damage" to its military production capabilities.
Earlier on the 6th, Israeli Defense Minister Katz said the Israeli military had airstriked Iran's largest petrochemical facility. According to Iranian media reports on the same day, petrochemical plants in Asaluyeh and South Pars, Bushehr Province, were "attacked by enemy forces," with several explosions heard. The Tasnim News Agency quoted local officials as saying that the United States and Israel launched attacks here again, causing damage to Asaluyeh's petrochemical production units. The extent of the damage is under investigation, and there are currently no reports of casualties.
