The scale of the computing power agreement between Anthropic and SpaceX has been revealed, reaching a maximum of $84.5 billion, more than double the previously disclosed figure.
According to a Reuters report on Tuesday, a confidential IPO prospectus from Anthropic revealed that the company has entered into a computing power leasing agreement with SpaceX for a total value of up to $84.5 billion , with the agreement extending to 2029.
This figure is much larger than the market previously knew.
In May of this year, SpaceX revealed in its IPO filing that Anthropic had agreed to lease its Nvidia-based computing power for $1.25 billion per month for up to three years, totaling approximately $45 billion .
At that time, both parties indicated that the agreement could be cancelled with 90 days' written notice.
The newly disclosed figure of $84.5 billion is almost double the aforementioned figure .
The report points out that most of the terms in the new agreement also retain the 90-day cancellation clause.
$518 billion: Anthropic's decade-long infrastructure bill
According to reports, Anthropic expects to spend at least $518 billion on AI infrastructure over the next decade.
There are six partners in total, including Google, Amazon, Microsoft and SpaceX.
SpaceX's role in this ecosystem is expanding—in addition to Anthropic, Google and startup Reflection AI have also signed computing power leasing agreements with SpaceX.
Anthropic is one of the leading players in the large-scale computing field, directly competing with OpenAI. Its largest investors include Amazon and Google. Large-scale leasing of external computing power is one of the mainstream paths for AI companies besides building their own data centers. SpaceX's computing power business is becoming an important supplier in this market.
