The top brokerage firm leader will change hands, with Zou Yingguang succeeding Zhang Youjun.
The "top brokerage firm" is about to welcome a new leader.
According to multiple sources confirmed by Wall Street News, CITIC Securities made internal arrangements for personnel adjustments on September 22, with Zhang Youjun retiring and current General Manager Zou Yingguang taking over.
This means that Zhang Youjun, who has led CITIC Securities for over a decade, is about to hand over the reins. Following the completion of relevant procedures for listed companies, CITIC Securities' management will also undergo another round of adjustments.
This handover is not unexpected.
In November 2024, the board of directors of CITIC Securities appointed Zou Yingguang as general manager. Less than two years later, this veteran, who had risen through the ranks in the fixed income business, further advanced to the core of CITIC Securities' management team.
Born in 1970, Zou Yingguang has a rather unique career path.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Clinical Medicine from Capital Medical University and worked as a surgeon at Xuanwu Hospital in Beijing after graduation. He then transitioned to the financial industry and obtained a Master of Economics degree in Monetary Banking from the Central University of Finance and Economics in 2000.
During his time at Huaxia Securities and later at CITIC Securities, which was restructured and established later, Zou Yingguang was engaged in bond and fixed income business for a long time, and served as assistant general manager of the bond business department and head of the fixed income department.
In 2017, Zou Yingguang joined CITIC Securities and became a member of the Executive Committee, where he was also responsible for the fixed income business. In 2023, he was transferred to CITIC Securities Investment, where he served as an executive director and member of the Executive Committee. In 2024, he returned to CITIC Securities and became its general manager in November of that year.
Zhang Youjun, who is about to retire, is a veteran who joined CITIC Securities at its inception.
After CITIC Securities was established in 1995, Zhang Youjun joined the company, and subsequently served as General Manager and Deputy General Manager of the Trading Department. In 2002, he became General Manager of CITIC Securities. After the restructuring of Huaxia Securities and the establishment of CITIC Securities Investment in 2005, he served successively as General Manager and Chairman of CITIC Securities Investment.
In 2015, Zhang Youjun returned to CITIC Securities and became chairman in January 2016, leading the company for more than ten years thereafter.
During his tenure, CITIC Securities continued to expand its business scope. The company completed the acquisition of Guangzhou Securities and continued to advance its business development in wealth management, investment banking, asset management, fixed income, and international business.
As of the end of June 2026, CITIC Securities' total assets reached RMB 2.47 trillion. In the first half of this year, it achieved operating revenue of RMB 49.692 billion, a year-on-year increase of 50%; and net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company of RMB 23.343 billion, a year-on-year increase of 69.6%.
From joining CITIC Securities in 1995 to his retirement, Zhang Youjun's professional connection with CITIC Securities has spanned more than 30 years.
He has been in charge of this leading securities firm for over a decade since he became chairman in 2016.
For CITIC Securities, this personnel handover also signifies a new beginning.
After more than 30 years of development, CITIC Securities has grown into a leading securities firm in China and aims to become a world-class Chinese investment bank. With the continued opening up of China's capital market and the deepening globalization of Chinese enterprises, leading securities firms are also entering a window of opportunity to further expand their cross-border business and global service capabilities.
Standing at the starting point of a new management cycle, the market also expects CITIC Securities to continue to consolidate its leading domestic advantages and achieve new breakthroughs in global asset allocation, cross-border financial services and international business layout, and further move towards becoming a world-class investment bank.
