The Zhiji LS6 plays its "chassis card," adding another variable to the 200,000 yuan pure electric SUV segment.

On September 23, the all-new LS6 was launched, offering three versions: Max, Pro Max, and Ultra, with official guide prices ranging from RMB 202,900 to RMB 264,900, and limited-time launch prices ranging from RMB 197,900 to RMB 259,900. Positioned as a large five-seater family electric SUV, the new car aims to enter the highly competitive mainstream family market by offering more advanced technology and features.

Compared to the usual upgrades to comfort features, the more noteworthy change in the new generation LS6 is in the chassis.

The new vehicle is equipped with the Linglizard all-wheel-drive chassis, including front-wheel steering, rear-wheel steering, and the Continental MKC2 brake-by-wire system. The traditional mechanical transmission connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels is eliminated; the driver's input is converted into electrical signals, which are then used by actuators to complete the steering.

Previously, steer-by-wire was mainly used in higher-priced vehicles.

Zhiji has extended this technology to the entry-level version, making chassis technology a key differentiator for the LS6 compared to other products in the same price range. Combined with the officially stated "two-way 18-degree" rear-wheel steering, meaning the rear wheels can turn a maximum of 9 degrees to the left and right, this SUV, which is nearly 5 meters long, can reduce its minimum turning radius to 4.49 meters.

The real value of this system is mainly reflected in scenarios where it is frequently used by home users.

U-turns in older residential areas, turns in underground parking garages, and parking in narrow spaces are often areas where mid-to-large SUVs lack agility. Coordinated front and rear wheel steering can reduce the space required for turning and also helps to balance low-speed agility with high-speed stability.

To meet the higher requirements for safety redundancy in drive-by-wire systems, Zhiji has incorporated redundancy designs such as dual power supplies, dual communication systems, and dual actuators into the steering system, and coordinates steering, braking, and power output through the vehicle motion control system.

For smart cars, this kind of underlying execution capability not only serves the driving experience, but also provides the hardware foundation for driver assistance systems to control the vehicle more precisely.

In terms of the three core electric components, the new car adopts an 800V high-voltage platform across the entire series, with an officially announced maximum charging power of 396 kW and a maximum range of 782 kilometers for the CLTC. Instead of simply increasing battery capacity to emphasize range, Zhiji continues to focus on electric drive efficiency and charging speed.

The 200,000 RMB-level pure electric SUV market has already gathered products such as XPeng G7, Ledao L60, and Jike 7X, and at higher prices, it intersects with models such as Xiaomi YU7 and Tesla Model Y.

Previously, the competition mainly revolved around range, cabin, and driver assistance. The LS6's inclusion of steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and rear-wheel steering as standard features across the entire range signifies that the competition is beginning to extend further to the chassis execution layer.

For Zhiji, the product strategy for the LS6 is relatively clear: while maintaining family-oriented attributes such as spaciousness and long range, it differentiates itself through chassis technology. The fully automated control chassis entering the 200,000 RMB market segment may also accelerate the adoption of similar features in other products at the same price point.

Of course, whether the increased availability of features can truly create a market advantage still depends on vehicle calibration, driving experience, delivery quality, and sales service. At least from a product layout perspective, the new generation LS6 is no longer just about increasing the number of functions, but rather focusing its competitive emphasis on underlying technology, adding a new dimension of comparison to the 200,000 RMB-level pure electric SUV market.
