U.S. Secretary of State: Hopes the U.S. and Iran will enter a serious negotiation process, expects a response "today"
On May 8 local time, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio was interviewed by the media during his visit to Italy. Regarding the Iran issue, Rubio stated that the U.S. has not yet received a formal response from Iran, but expects to “get a reply today.” Rubio expressed hope that Iran would present a “serious and sincere proposal,” and said the U.S. hopes the current situation can “drive both sides into serious negotiations.” Rubio said if a missile is launched toward the U.S., the U.S. will respond. Rubio noted that the attack that occurred on the 7th was “separate” from America’s “Epic Wrath Operation” against Iran. On issues relating to Lebanon, Rubio emphasized that the U.S. will not negotiate with Hezbollah, and the current focus is on cooperating with the Lebanese government. When talking about NATO and troop deployments, Rubio said the U.S. has always planned to adjust military deployments within the NATO framework, but the specifics regarding NATO and U.S. troop deployments will ultimately be decided by U.S. President Trump. He also mentioned that in recent related meetings held in Italy, the specific arrangements for NATO and U.S. troop deployments were not discussed. (CCTV)
