With three new models launched in two years, the Zhiji L6 is once again venturing into the fiercely competitive 200,000 yuan pure electric vehicle market.

On August 28th, the all-new Zhiji L6 was officially launched, with a starting price of 199,900 yuan. The new car comes standard with a fully steerable chassis, an 800V high-voltage platform, and intelligent four-wheel steering, and features upgraded electric drive systems and intelligent features.

This is the third major update to L6 in two years.

In May 2024, the first-generation L6 was launched with an official guide price of RMB 219,900 to RMB 345,900 and a launch privilege price starting from RMB 199,900; in May 2025, the facelifted model had a privilege price of RMB 204,900 to RMB 264,900.

The new generation model has returned to the entry-level price of 199,900 yuan, while adding features such as a fully steerable chassis, indicating that Zhiji hopes to expand its product coverage through technological upgrades rather than simply adjusting prices.

The three-electric system is the focus of this update.

According to data released by the company, the new car adopts SAIC NEO's three-electric architecture. The 93kWh battery version of the CLTC has a maximum range of 850 kilometers and a peak charging power of 396kW, which can charge up to 580 kilometers in 15 minutes.

The 800V platform has become an important feature of pure electric vehicles priced above 200,000 yuan. This time, Zhiji combines it with an energy efficiency management system and a larger capacity battery to further cover urban commuting and long-distance travel scenarios.

The more distinctive changes come from the chassis.

The new generation L6's all-wheel-drive chassis integrates steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and bidirectional 18-degree rear-wheel steering. Steer-by-wire adjusts steering characteristics according to vehicle speed and usage scenario, while rear-wheel steering helps improve the agility of the nearly 5-meter-long vehicle when making U-turns, parking, and navigating continuous curves on narrow roads. Compared to cockpit screens and comfort features, the chassis experience is more difficult to replicate by simply piling on materials, and it is also a continuation of Zhiji's long-term technological approach.

Behind this configuration is SAIC Motor's gradual deployment of its technology platform to mainstream price ranges. The Zhiji platform has previously been used in models such as the LS9, and the L6 brings this technology to the 200,000 RMB sedan market.

With core components being reused across more models, SAIC's R&D, procurement, and manufacturing systems are expected to further leverage economies of scale, allowing Zhiji to establish a more unified technological identity.

There is still significant demand in the 200,000 RMB pure electric sedan market. Data from the China Passenger Car Association shows that the retail penetration rate of new energy passenger vehicles in China reached 65.1% in July 2026.

Compared to its competitors, the new generation Xiaomi SU7 starts at 219,900 yuan, the XPeng P7 starts at 203,800 yuan, the XPeng P7+ pure electric version enters the 186,800 yuan range, and the Tesla Model 3 has also been a long-term participant in this market competition.

The advantage of the new generation L6 lies in its market entry starting at 199,900 yuan, while retaining differentiated features such as four-wheel steering and a fully steerable chassis. These technologies are highly appealing to users who value handling, cornering agility, and long-distance refueling efficiency.

Zhiji also integrates with Momenta's driver assistance solution and provides features such as a smart cockpit, audio system, and seats to meet the comprehensive needs of young families and urban commuters.

The brand's performance also laid the foundation for the launch of a new L6 model. In 2025, Zhiji Auto's sales reached 81,017 units, a year-on-year increase of approximately 24%; in December of that year, the company achieved its first monthly profit on a full-cost basis. In the first seven months of 2026, Zhiji's cumulative sales reached approximately 46,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 82.4%.

Over the past year, SUVs such as the LS6, LS8, and LS9 have successively improved Zhiji's product lineup in the price range of 200,000 to 350,000 yuan.

After the L6 update, Zhiji has formed a more complete combination across sedans and SUVs, as well as pure electric and range-extended electric vehicles. SUV models expand the user base, while sedans help strengthen the brand's image in terms of design, driving experience, and pure electric technology. The two types of products can share the supply chain, sales channels, and technology platform.

The fact that three new models have been launched in two years also reflects the shortening product cycle of intelligent electric vehicles. With rapid updates in chip, driver assistance, battery, and chassis control technologies, annual model updates can no longer be limited to the exterior and cabin aspects.

This major hardware and software upgrade of L6 by Zhiji will help new technologies enter the mainstream market more quickly and accumulate data and supply chain experience for subsequent product iterations.

What's worth observing next is whether the new car can translate its advantages in chassis and electric powertrain into stable orders, and maintain cost efficiency while expanding sales.
