Your Excellency President Trump and Mrs. Melania,
Ladies and gentlemen, friends:
It is a great pleasure to pay a state visit to the beautiful United States of America, and I thank President Trump and First Lady Trump and my wife for their warm hospitality. First of all, on behalf of the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people, I would like to extend my sincere greetings to the American people and offer my warmest congratulations on the 250th anniversary of American independence!
China and the United States are both great countries, and the Chinese and American peoples are both great peoples. My visit to the United States at the invitation of President Trump is to carry forward our friendship, expand cooperation, and improve the well-being of our two peoples.
Faced with the changes in the world, the times, and history, China and the United States, two major powers, shoulder the historical responsibility of promoting human development and progress.
During President Trump's visit to China this year, we unanimously agreed to build a constructive and strategically stable relationship between China and the United States, which has been widely welcomed by the people of both countries and the international community. I am willing to work with President Trump to steer the ship of China-US relations steadily and far into the future.
—We must strengthen communication. China and the United States have different national conditions, and frank, in-depth, and sustained dialogue can enhance understanding, seek common ground while reserving differences, and build mutual trust. President Trump and I respect each other, have established a good relationship, and maintain regular communication. We encourage our respective foreign affairs, trade, finance, law enforcement, and cultural departments to strengthen communication, and support our legislative bodies in expanding exchanges.
—We must cooperate sincerely. The interests of China and the United States are deeply intertwined, and the space for cooperation is vast. While Sino-US cooperation cannot solve all the world's problems, many global issues are difficult to resolve without it. China's door to opening up remains open, welcoming American companies to invest and do business in China. We hope the US will treat Chinese companies fairly, and together we can extend the list of cooperation opportunities and shorten the list of problems. Both China and the US are major powers in artificial intelligence, and have the capability and responsibility to develop and manage AI effectively, ensuring that its development remains under human control and benefits the people. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the US in areas such as drug control and law enforcement. Both sides can increase direct flights to facilitate personnel and trade exchanges.
—We must coexist peacefully. I have said many times that cooperation between China and the United States, two major powers, benefits both sides, while confrontation harms both. China and the United States need not shy away from competition, but this competition should be benign and have boundaries; it should be a race where each side strives to catch up, not a gladiatorial contest where one side wins and the other loses. Both sides must adhere to the bottom line of non-conflict and non-confrontation, and we will certainly be able to find a correct path for the two major powers to coexist on this planet. The two militaries should maintain regular dialogue and improve crisis communication and prevention mechanisms. The "Thucydides Trap" can be overcome.

During World War II, China and the United States fought side by side against fascist aggression. The Chinese people will never forget this history, nor will the American people. The hope for China-US relations lies in the people, and the future lies in the youth. Here, I would like to announce that over the next five years, China will invite 100,000 American teenagers to China for exchange and study.
Giant pandas are messengers of friendship between the people of China and the United States. Today, I want to share some good news: in just a few days, giant pandas "Ping Ping" and "Fu Shuang" will arrive at the Atlanta Zoo and meet the American people.
