Xiaomi further boosts its core SKUs: YU7 fills out the price range, 17 Max maintains pricing power

On May 21, Xiaomi held a full-ecosystem product launch event in Beijing, unveiling a range of new products including smartphones, automobiles, and smart home devices.
The two highlights of this launch were undoubtedly the Xiaomi 17 Max and the Xiaomi YU7 family.
In terms of smartphones, despite cost pressures brought by rising prices of storage components, the pricing of the Xiaomi 17 Max remains restrained.
The newly released Xiaomi 17 Max is priced from 4,799 yuan for the 12GB+256GB version, and comes down to 4,299 yuan after national subsidies; the higher memory configuration "16G+512G" is priced at 5,799 yuan.
However, All Weather Technology notes that the Xiaomi 17 Max did not continue the previous "16GB+1TB" configuration of the 17 series.
The more direct reason behind this may be that versions with large memory and large storage face higher cost pressures. Especially for top-tier versions like 16GB+1TB, the material costs are higher and the cost pressure is further amplified.
The memory configuration of this year's Xiaomi 17 Max seems to be a balance between "maintaining the starting price" and "controlling high-end costs".
From a product perspective, as the first Max model in the Xiaomi digital series, the Xiaomi 17 Max is not simply a larger-screen version, but has undergone comprehensive enhancements in screen, battery life, imaging, and performance experience.
The biggest selling point of this Xiaomi 17 Max is still its battery life: it is equipped with an 8000mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery with 16% silicon content and an energy density of 894Wh/L, making it the flagship product with the best battery life in Xiaomi's history.
In terms of automobiles, the Xiaomi YU7 family has seen a significant expansion.
This time, the Xiaomi YU7 family adds two new models: YU7 GT and YU7 Standard Edition.
Specifically, the starting price of the YU7 Standard Edition is 233,500 yuan, further lowering the entry barrier.
According to Lei Jun, the Standard Edition had already been developed three years ago, but was canceled at the last minute to simplify the product line.
Looking at the specs, as a mid-to-large-size sporty SUV, the YU7 Standard Edition is equipped with a 73 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and a 752V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, offering a CLTC range of 643 kilometers and 405 kilometers of range replenished in 15 minutes of fast charging. It mainly addresses daily urban commuting needs.
As the high-end version of the YU7 family, the YU7 GT is priced from 389,900 yuan, raising the price band of the YU7 family.
It’s worth mentioning that the specially modified YU7 GT achieved a time of 7:22.755 on the Nürburgring track, becoming the "fastest SUV on the Nürburgring".
At this point, the entry-level price of the YU7 family has dropped from 253,500 yuan to 233,500 yuan, while the highest configuration has risen from 329,900 yuan to 389,900 yuan.
From the market perspective, the YU7 Standard Edition is mainly responsible for expanding user coverage, while the YU7 GT is responsible for enhancing brand momentum. Xiaomi Automobile is filling both ends simultaneously to form a more complete SUV product matrix.
For Xiaomi, the 17 Max secures the smartphone base, while the YU7 family perfects the automobile product lineup. As more categories are included in the same ecosystem, the outline of Xiaomi’s “full ecosystem for people, car, and home” is becoming increasingly clear.
